Switchboard Upgrades
If you have an old switchboard with porcelain rewireable fuses, the risk of a deadly electric shock to you or your family is greatly increased.
Today, new switchboards must have RCD protection (residual current device).
An RCD can detect that a person is receiving an electric shock and will switch off before enough current flows to cause harm to that person.
An RCD will also detect many common faults with appliances that old porcelain fuses do not.
New switchboards also contain toggle style fuses, called an MCB (miniature circuit breaker). MCB’s are more reliable than the old porcelain rewire-able fuses and can prevent fire due to overloaded circuits.
If you have an old switchboard with rewireable fuses, we recommend upgrading this to a new modern switchboard. Your family will be safer using appliances and your home will be better protected.
We will also check that your home is earthed correctly and will test every electrical point in your house as part of the switchboard upgrade.
We can come and look at your current board and answer any questions you may have. We will then provide you with a free no obligation quote.
